Grandmaster
A Japanese judōka and prizefighter known as Conde Koma. Maeda brought Kodokan judo to Brazil and taught the Gracie family, planting the seed that would grow into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Grandmaster
The patriarch of the Gracie family and one of the primary developers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Alongside his brother Hélio, he transformed Maeda’s teachings into a system that emphasized leverage, technique, and efficiency.

Grandmaster
A 9th degree red belt and founder of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). He carried the Gracie legacy forward through Gracie Barra, shaping competitive BJJ and instructor development worldwide.

Master
An 8th degree Coral belt and the eldest of the legendary Machado brothers. He helped bring Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the United States and built a network of academies rooted in technical precision, respect, and lifelong learning.

Head Coach
Coach Elias is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Carlos Machado. He brings that lineage directly to the mats at Safeguard, teaching with the patience, structure, and respect that define the Machado name.
